OBEDIENCE TRAINING

South Forsyth Animal Hospital is now offering Beginner and Intermediate obedience classes for puppies and dogs.  Comprehensive Pet Therapy Inc (CPT) will conduct the classes here at our office. The classes will meet each Thursday for 8 weeks. Each class will last for one hour.

The first session for the Beginner class will be on Thursday, September 25 beginning at 6:45pm.

The first session for the Intermediate class will begin on Thursday, September 25 beginning at 7:45pm.

- Description of Beginner Obedience Class

The CPT Beginner Obedience class focuses on command-oriented obedience (Watch, Come, Sit, Down, Stay, Walk, Heel). Secondarily the class covers light socialization with dogs and people and will answer questions regarding household manners and behavioral issues. However, severe or complex household or behavioral problems will be more effectively addressed via in-home private instruction. The class is open to any dog 12 weeks of age or older that receives veterinary approval.

-Description of Intermediate Obedience Class

The CPT Intermediate Obedience Class focuses on transitioning Beginner commands to an off-leash level. We add DistanceComes, Blind Recalls, and Come to Front to the basic recall taught at the Beginner level. We teach Distance Sits and Downs and add Hand Signals to each command. We add Time, Distractions and Distance to the Stay command and include Out of Sight Stays. We begin to remove the leash on the Heel command and add Changes of Pace, Changes of Direction, and Automatic Halts. If there is extra time during a class session, we will also include some Tricks. The class is open to any dog that graduated from a CPT Beginner level program, a credible Beginner program taught elsewhere, or commensurate private or board training instruction taught by CPT or another company.

Both classes consist of 8 one-hour meetings and cost $150.
